Wonderful folded steel, hand-forged KATANA : The Masamune is an historical version. Limited Edition to 50 pieces, delivered with certificate. Blade with one groove on the first part and double groove on the end part of the blade.

  • Sugata (Blade style):
    • Hand-forged curved blade with a double Bohi (groove). One Bohi on the first part and double Bohi blade on the end part of the blade. Chu-Kissaki (tip)

  • Folded steel
    • C45 = AISI / SAE / ASTM ( USA )  No. 1045
    • C55Si7- (USA: steel 1095)
    • C105 W2 - DIN 1.1645 = AISI / SAE / ASTM (USA)  No.W1.
    • 13 times folded to achieve ca. 8192 layers traditional clay-wrapping technique for differential hardening. There are beautiful hada (grain in steel, pattern of folding the steel) in the blade. The hardness of its Mune is ca 43° and the Ha (blade edge) is ca 60° HRC Rockwell. The blade spine is iori-mune, the edge is without Niku. (The blade has got a flat and cutting sharp edge).
    • Numbering on the habaki from 1151 to 1200.
    • Dimensions:
      • Nagasa (blade length): 28 inch.

KOSHIRAE

  • Kashira (Cap):
    • Beautifully carved. Carbon steel (C45= AISI / SAE / ASTM ( USA )  No. 1045). Steel oxidized, Brass color.
  • Tsuka (Grip):

  • Tsuka-ito (handle wrap):
    • Pure sislk. Tight.
  • Samé:
    • Real white ray skin.
  • 2 Menuki:
    • Brass, hand-polished, gold-plated. One each side, traditional mounting of Menuki.
  • Habaki:
    • Brass. Made in 1 piece.
  • Seppa:
    • Copper, silver-plated.
  • 2 Mekugi:
    • Bamboo wood, based upon the traditional method to seat the pins. The 2 mekugi-ana are drilled diagonal and conical into the tongue. The mekugi are fitted from opposite side.
  • Tsuba (Guard):
    • Carbon steel (C45= AISI / SAE / ASTM ( USA )  No. 1045), hand- polished. Steel oxidized, black color.
  • Saya (Scabbard):
    • Selected wood. Red lacquered. Sayajiri (End part of saya) is rounded. Curved according to the Sori. The Koi-guchi (mouth piece) is made of buffalo horn. Saya with kurikata and 2 shitodome to hold the Obi.
  • Sageo:
    • Black (cord used for tying the Saya to the Obi - knob on the Saya).
  • Weight:
    • 40.21 oz without saya.
    • 54.67 oz with Saya.

    • Protective cloth bag with nice colourful embroidery.
